Porcupine Fish Attractor - This is the first system I have seen that is designed to help you catch fish without also catching your hook. Fish Hab Boxes - Fish Hab boxes are an excellent solution for creating artifical reefs and cover for young fish. Rocks and Christmas trees are a common solution for creating dense cover but rocks are cumbersome to place and trees only last a couple of fishing seasons.

How does this help with the fishery? It was explained to me by a well known fisheries biologist; A bass has to eat 10lbs of fish in order to gain one pound. Small 1 inch bluegill generally weigh 5lbs per 1,000 fish thus the bass would have to eat 2,000 bluegill to gain one pound. Adding protective cover such as Fish Hab boxes will allow the young bluegill to grow for an additional month or more. In just one month, bluegill can quickly grow to 20 lbs per 1,000 fish so now a bass only has to eat 500 bluegill to gain a pound. This is a simplified example but should show you how protecting the small bluegill and minnows promotes and is essential for good bass growth.

Fish Tagging system- Gun $60, Numbered Tags (100) $70 With numerous research uses these floy tag systems have been used internationally since 1957. The colored tags can be used to mark males vs. females or brood stock. The numbered tags can track growth and other information on individual fish. Many of our clients just find it fun to catch the same bass several times over the years and track his growth and see where he travels around the pond. The gun is scissor grip style that inserts the tag to 5/8” depth and comes with a .077 OD needle. We use this system for our clients when performing our fishery analysis.
