Matt joined Aquatic Environmental Services team in 2006 after graduating from the famed fishery program at Auburn University. During his time at Auburn, he worked at the Ireland Center where he assisted researchers studying the effects of striped bass stocking on largemouth and spotted bass; the distribution, abundance, and population characteristics of shoal bass in tributaries of the Chattahoochee River, Alabama; as well as the effects of tournament fishing on dispersal, population characteristics, and mortality of black bass in Lake Martin, Alabama. At the Ireland Center, he also aged thousand of sunfish via sagittal otoliths and maintained research ponds (i.e. fertilization, sampling, etc.). Matt is supervisor of the Fisheries Management Division at Aquatic Environmental. In his 16 years he has seen it all in fish management. He is a strong reason AES is one of the leaders in growing some of the largest bass around. He is responsible for all electrofishing surveys and develops management plans for small ¼ acre ponds to lakes hundreds of acres all across the Southeast. He is also develops fish stocking plans and creates lake habitat designs. When times call for assistance he is quick to help with: fish stocking, aeration sales and installation, fish habitat installation, lime/fertilizer applications, and water quality monitoring. Matt enjoys spending time outdoors and loves inshore fishing and catching big bluegill.
