1996
Origin of AES
Aquatic Environmental Services began with Greg Grimes in 1996, driven by a passion for transforming outdoor spaces and enjoying the natural world. Greg drew from his two years running a lake management company and receiving his masters in Fisheries Science from the University of Georgia to develop holistic lake management strategies.

Innovation
Six years later in 2002, the company wanted to advance its fisheries management reach and invested in the purchase of an electrofishing vessel to survey lakes and continue data-driven management that we bring to the lakes we service. This investment in the company and in our clients helped us create the thriving fisheries our clients want.
2006
Our First Office
In 2006, the company purchased the land on which our main office sits today! This step allowed us to better serve our clients through a central location where we could develop management plans, store equipment, house new vehicles, and better research the lakes we worked on.

2008
New Electrofishing Boat
In 2008, we developed a cutting-edge electrofishing vessel, allowing for the survey of lakes in a more accurate manner. Improving the ease of collection and sampling of fish ensured that we could maintain our goal of always using science-driven methods. This new electrofishing boat helped develop our fisheries management department, becoming a cornerstone of the business and a tool to ensure that the lakes we managed were staying in balance and were properly harvested.
2010
5,000 Lakes Serviced
In 2010, we hit a major milestone in the company history: 5,000 lakes serviced. This was a major milestone both for AES and within the fisheries management industry.

2014
Specializing in What We Do Best
Four years later, in 2014, we made the strategic decision to focus solely on fisheries management, rather than the traditional lake management. This unique decision expedited our growth in fisheries management, a sector that has always been a backbone of the company and why we began in the first place.
2015
Research Lake Construction
The following year, in 2015, we constructed a research lake on our property in Forsyth, GA which allowed us to test new management methods and track results; we were able to grow pure Florida Bass to 12 pounds in under 6 years with relative weights exceeding 130%.

2018
Our Satellite Office
In 2018, AES constructed a facility for working in middle Georgia to ensure that every client, no matter where they are, enjoys seamless, timely service. This addition has allowed us to create and manage trophy fisheries throughout Georgia and the southeast.
2022
Our Lake Management Team
We began full-service lake management in 2022, expanding our team to support additional services. With new training and education on holistic solutions, we ensured the team was equipped to provide lake management services far superior to those of the past.

2023
Expanded Office to Holly Springs
With our growing team, we outgrew our office in Ball Ground and expanded to Holly Springs. Our administrative team and lake management team works out of this location which also serves as our training and development center.
2025
Further Growth
As AES continues to grow, and we approach 100 annual service plans, the team grew with it. In 2025 the team reached 17 full-time employees, each bringing unique skillsets to the company so we can provide you with excellent lake management services.
